What a pleasant surprise for a quick afternoon stop on our way from the West Valley to Cave Creek. Our small group of 3 stopped in on a Tuesday afternoon around 1pm and there were only 4 other individuals in the bar/restaurant, so it wasn't too busy. Upon entering we were greeted with awesome western themed decor from the walls to the lights. We were seated by the host promptly and the waitress came right over to give us the drink menu (Cocktails and Brews, this is afterall a Distillery) that had local brews on it. She was friendly and wasn't pushy at all. Their menu had a surprising amount of Gluten Free, Vegan, and Keto friendly options for a Tavern. We ordered our beverages and food, but for the lack of patrons we felt the wait was too long. It was around 35 minutes for our Seared Ahi Tuna salad to arrive (which arrived incomplete by the way), the Fish Tacos with fries, and a Chicken Sandwich with fries. The Tacos were filling and pretty tasty with the fresh and lively slaw on top. The fries were super crispy, but lacked seasoning so we had to ask for an extra cup of their good ketchup. It's more vinegary than others, which I liked - it made it taste less processed. The Seared Ahi Tuna Salad was large and had 5 strips of tuna, along with freshly cut peppers, carrots, and tons of kale. It was dry for our first bites so we asked the waitress and they forgot the sweet ponzu drizzle. Once that was added, it woke up all of the flavors through the dish. Now for the chicken sandwich, I felt like the chicken breast was small for the $15 asking price. It was 1/3rd the size of the soft brioche bun! I got the Cajun style with pepperjack cheese, topped with Avocado which was a good flavor. The fries were crispy and vibrant, and the ketchup was good too. I just didn't feel a $15 value here. Overall the food was a 4/5, service was fine ( friendly, slow, and my water glass was never refilled) so 3.5/5, restaurant was clean and booths were comfortable so 5/5 here.

I come for the chicken pesto flat bread, delicious! House made bourbon is tasty too. The fries are crispy outside & hot inside, just right. Plenty of parking, lots of seating & great food. Nicole covered both the bar & tables, she is attentive, responsive & friendly. Always excellent when I come here & today was no different.

Excellent service... excellent food. Highly recommend. Excellent menu for all. Happy hour specials plus daily specials. Love taco Tuesdays with margarita

3 of us sat at the bar for Friday night for dinner and drinks. Bartender was really attentive with awesome food suggestions. We had the tenderloin, a burger, and my new favorite, the grilled mBLT. All were delicious. Did I mention the Vodka? There's is the best I've ever had, hands down. Definitely will be a return customer!

Blake's OLD FASHION Great bourbon- great bartender. Support local restaurants and bars.

We were in the neighborhood and decided to try this place for lunch, and we are glad we did! I had the BBQ bacon burger, and my wife had the chicken nachos. Both were delicious. My burger came with the "house fries" which we were both amazed by. They were among the best fries we've ever had! And I do not say that lightly. I literally got distracted from eating my excellent burger because I was eating so many fries. My wife and I both also had a glass of the Black Mountain Bourbon on the rocks, and it was a good-tasting sipper. We didn't love the bread pudding, which was too dense and was almost savory. It was spicy, which wasn't terrible but was kind of weird. Everything else was awesome, though! And our server, Tyler, was friendly and attentive. We'd be happy to return.

I was in the cave creek area to get my 2nd covid shot. I love trying new restaurants and this one wasn't very far from the walgreens. They have a large menu so it was hard to make a decision. All of the items we chose were delicious. They make their own beer cheese!! We will make the hour drive to go back again! Highly recommend!

Good neighborhood spot. We started with the Crispy pork potstickers and they hit the spot! The fries are excellent. I ordered the fish tacos and they were great..they came with rice and the rice was old and dry and cold and crunchy. The tacos rocked so I was happy with that! One of my sons had chili mac and cheese and he ate it all and said it was good. My other son had flat bread and liked it. My husband had a cheese burger and was pleased. All and all it's a good place to grab food in our neighborhood!

What a unique find! Everything here in Cave Creek closes by Nine PM so we were happy to find such a welcoming spot on a Sunday evening. Closing winter Olympic ceremony on the Tele"s and some great Bourbons, whiskey and in house distilled vodkas found here tonight. Ms. Lisa was an excellent bartender and introduced us to Hanger 1's Rosé Vodka on the rocks. A perfect ending to our evening. We also devoured prosciutto and arugula flat bread ... highly recommended! Between the late night hours ( 10pm closing), warm service and delicious food I happily give Black Mountain Tavern & Distillery a 5 star " late night sip n chat " review!
